Our story

Just.Play was founded by a group of friends from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi, brought together by one shared belief: play can change lives.

When COVID sent us back to our hometowns across India, one question kept coming up: why couldn't children here experience the same power of play?

We started online. It didn't work. Trust doesn't build through a screen.

So we went to a care home in Ernakulam, where children could still gather safely, with one simple deal: you need to study if you want to come for sport.

One child who had been failing exams passed all but one paper the very next term. It wasn't just the tutoring. He finally had something to come for.

In 2023, eleven of those children became national Spirit champions.

We brought that belief to Bengaluru, where the need was even greater. Trust took time. Parents weren't always convinced.

The place changed. The belief didn't.

Why Play?

A small game together is where trust starts.

Once they come for the game, the door to everything else opens.

Why Bengaluru came next

In 2021, we started working with children from a care home in Kerala. Most of them had never played competitive sport before.

Two years later, 11 children represented Kerala at the National Championships — and won the Spirit of the Game title.

For most of them, it was the first time they'd ever left Kerala. For many of them, it was the first trophy they'd ever held. We'd never seen them that overjoyed.

That journey gave us a deeper belief in what play could do.

It gave us the confidence to begin again — this time in Bengaluru.
